The 2019 Budget Summit begins with PBPC's independent in-depth analysis of Governor Wolf's proposed 2019-20 Budget, presented by PBPC Director Marc Stier and Policy Analyst Diana Polson. This plenary session also includes an overview of the current challenges confronting Pennsylvania, as well as an examination of opportunities to advance the well-being of the commonwealth and all its residents.

We are especially pleased to feature Saru Jayaraman, a prominent national leader in efforts to raise the minimum wage, the author of Forked: A New Standard for American Dining, and a frequent guest on CNN, MSNBC, and Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

The Summit luncheon features a legislative panel discussion moderated by Corinna Vecsey Wilson, with pragmatic visionaries in the General Assembly, discussing policy priorities to build prosperity for all Pennsylvanians. The panel includes several newly-elected members of the General Assembly, who are already advancing legislation based on the interests of their constituents and ideals that are widely shared throughout the state:

  • Senator Katie Muth, Senate District 44 (Berks, Chester and Montgomery Counties)

This year's Summit includes a diverse array of workshops, featuring state and national experts in public policy and advocacy. Our morning and afternoon workshop sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about some of the biggest issues that impact the state budget and touch every Pennsylvania resident.

The keynote speaker at our the Summit will be Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, the tough, fair, and independent fiscal watchdog for Pennsylvania taxpayers. Virtually every part of Auditor General DePasquale's job intersects with the state budget, affecting the lives of all Pennsylvanians and touching on some of the biggest "hot-button" issues of the day.
