Affordability of Health Care Top Concern for Small Business Owners
December 4, 2008
More than one-third of small business owners say that rising health care costs will likely cause them to scale back some portion of health insurance benefits for their employees, according to a recent survey sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, N.J.
Small business owners (employing fewer than 50 employees) told pollsters that health care affordability is a top concern for them. Nearly half of them (42 percent) said Congress and President-Elect Barack Obama should prioritize "making health care more affordable" as their top issue in the New Year.
The survey of 400 small business owners was conducted jointly by Public Opinion Strategies and Lake Research Partners.
