Hospital group estimates Medicaid cuts proposed in Senate Bill 850 would cost 13,000 jobs.
HARRISBURG (July 1, 2009) - It was already clear that a Senate proposal to cut $280 million in Medicaid payments to hospitals could result in reduced services.
It could also mean the loss of 13,000 jobs at hospitals across the state.
The Hospital and HealthSystem Association of Pennsylvania recently said that the proposed cuts in Senate Bill 850 would result in such significant job losses. Association president and CEO Carolyn Scanlan told The Associated Press that would mean reduced access to trauma centers, burn centers, and obstetrical and neonatal services.
